What we did in 2009

 THE FOLLOWING IS THE PASTOR'S REPORT FOR CHARGE CONFERENCE

We have had a great year at Red Bay First taking in 18 new members while losing only 4.  Below is a partial list of our current activities.

ONGOING ACTIVITIES:
Church Wide Activities:
    Second Sunday lunch: a mission’s fund raiser

    Fund snacks for children at school that cannot afford them

    Feed the work release inmates once a quarter
   
Feed the Red Bay football team, coaches & cheerleaders breakfast every Friday    during football season.

    Wonderful Wednesday Kids, 3 yrs to 6th grade.
        Meet each Wed. night 6:30 – 8:00 pm
        Mission project – purchased 3 goats through Heifer Project
        Visit Assisted Living and sing for the residents
        Conduct morning service on 5th Sunday (except preaching)
        Sing and play hand bells in worship services
Pass out attendance pads, serve as acolytes, greeters and hand out bulletins each Sunday.
        Take up offering occasionally.

    Three Wednesday night Bible studies:
        Disciple – mostly young men – 6:30 -8:00 pm (10)
        Pastor’s Adult Study – 6:30 – 7:30 (12)
        Ladies’ Bible Study 6:30 – 8:00 pm (30 ladies)

    Men’s Wed. morning prayer group – 6:00 – 8:00 am (7)

    Men’s breakfast – Third Sunday 8:00 am (12-14 men)

Prime-Timers – A catered meal, program, door prizes, etc. for those 60ish & over in the church.  Meals are carried to those who cannot attend.

Church is listed on Alabama Hallelujah Trail.

Good Neighbor Circles that provide meals, send cards, etc. to those having surgery, sickness, or special needs.

Have prayer chain in place for special prayer requests.

Send out e-mails each week with updates, reminders, new prayer requests, scripture & sermon text for Sunday, birthdays & anniversaries for that week.

Recognize high school seniors each year with Bibles, etc.

    Upper Rooms provided for local nursing home, hospital and assisted living.

    Bulletin mailed to those who cannot attend Sunday services.

    Purchasing new sound system for sanctuary.

    Church library regularly updated with new books and available to all members.

Good Shepherd Fund available for helping those in need in community and transients.

Initiating use of power point presentations periodically during our worship services.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Assist local Lion’s Club to distribute clothing to children at Christmas in our Fellowship Hall.   

Provide Christmas party for local underprivileged children each year, with games, lunch, telling of the Christmas story, visit by Santa and gifts.

Have Easter egg hunt for children in community.

Take part in community Thanksgiving and Easter services.

Loaned old church artifacts to Red Bay Museum for display.

Purchased ads in local football and basketball programs and sign for football field and gym.

Devotional at Red Bay Housing Project

    Provide Bible Study each Thurs. at assisted living.


NEW- STARTED SINCE JUNE, 2008

Approved renovation of old educational building and installation of handicap bathroom.

Construction of new playground for elementary age children.   

Revival – Todd Henderson, Evang.

Wednesday night supper 5:30 – 6:15 pm.  Donations to cover cost only.

NCD has been approved by Council and am forming Health Care team to be at meeting on Sept. 28.

Repaint signs and add a lighted 8 ft. Cross & Flame on front of Educational Building.  Also, are putting up road signs and signs on the three buildings to help find your way . UMC ads on local TV station and in newspaper.

Give away water at Founder’s Day with a card “given in Jesus’ name” and church info.

Set Feb. date for new Pictorial Directory.

           Early morning accountability ladies group.  meet every wed. morn. @ 6:15- 7:00 using the                   
           Upper Room as a guide...called the S.O.S Group (sisters of spirit).
